THE STORY OF THE FOUNDATION
2011-12 AGNESE ARRIVES, A NEW OFFICE AND AN EXHIBITION AT GAGOSIAN IN LONDON
The Foundation’s new home, more spacious and better organized, permitted the archives to be expanded and acquisitions to be increased, while digitalization of the documents continued.
The exhibition curated by Rosalia Pasqualino di Marineo was conceived to recreate the mood of the Azimut gallery, as it is seen in the documents: a small space, a less than rigorous presentation and the walls rendered similar to those of the gallery.
In parallel with the exhibition a book was published thanks to the collaboration between the Gagosian team (Michael Cary, Valentina Castellani, Pepi Marchetti Franchi and Alison McDonald), the Manzoni Foundation and the author of the text Francesca Pola. The layout was by Goto Design of New York.
The book was offered in a slip cover containing facsimile reprints of the only two issues of the historic periodical (all the texts of which were published in English for the first time). The graphic design was inspired by the catalogues and the invitations created by the artists themselves for the Azimut exhibitions and also features reproductions of these contemporary documents.
