THE STORY OF THE FOUNDATION

2014 SOLO SHOW AT PALAZZO REALE AND EXPO

25 March saw the opening of the solo show Piero Manzoni 1933-1963 at Palazzo Reale, with more than 100 works on display, curated by Flaminio Gualdoni and Rosalia Pasqualino di Marineo and accompanied by a catalogue published by Skira. There was a dual tribute to Piero on the evening of the opening: the classic Fiat 500 courtesy cars (like the one owned by the artist) took the invited guests to dinner at the restaurant Il Marchesino, where the legendary chef Gualtiero Marchesi had prepared a special tribute in his friend Piero’s honour.

The Foundation was involved in the Milan Expo, organizing an event during which various contemporary artists staged in the city’s Expo Gate pavilions Manzoni’s performances from 1960-61: Fiato d’artista (Artist’s Breath), the eggs to be eaten and the Sculture Viventi (Living Sculptures).
