2023 SONCINO TRIBUTES 1/2

In collaboration with the Pro Loco of Soncino, represented by Giuseppe Cavalli several events dedicated to Piero Manzoni were staged in the town. The 4th of March saw a discussion about Merda d’artista at the former Filanda Meroni featuring Luca Bochicchio, Flaminio Gualdoni, Rosalia Pasqualino di Marineo and Marco Senaldi; that same day saw the inauguration at the Museo della Stampa of the exhibition La Merda d’artista di Piero Manzoni tra documenti e immagini, with a can exhibited together with documentation regarding the work. On the 13th of May, the same location hosted the pianist Maria Grazia Bellocchio who paid tribute to Piero with a piano concert featuring 20th century music by Giacinto Scelsi, Sylvano Bussotti, Luciano Berio and Luigi Dallapiccola. On the 13th of July, Piero’s date of birth, a special celebratory post mark was issued, also presented at the Museo della Stampa. The commemorative day concluded in evocative setting of the Fossato della Rocca Sforzesca with the screening of the film by Andrea Bettinetti Piero Manzoni, Artist. The same film was also to be screened on the 24th of August at the Cinema Scala in St. Moritz during an evening organized by Hauser & Wirth.
