This book, the most comprehensive dedicated to the Artist’s Shit, collects the proceedings of the International Conference That Scandalous Can. Piero Manzoni - Artist’s Shit (1961), held at the University of Verona in March 2023, and presents the latest academic research on the iconic Manzonian work, drawing on multiple disciplines: from Art History to Philosophy and Sociology, through to Chemistry and Economics.
The book, written entirely in English, was designed to introduce an international audience to the deeper meaning of this celebrated “little can”. This ambitious and demanding project required a long gestation period, essential for adding an important piece to the studies on Piero Manzoni’s work and at the same time bearing witness to their continuing evolution.
